CCSE Retreat │Tuesday, Oct. 15th
Thank you in advance for your participation in the inaugural CCSE Retreat!
We’re looking forward to a robust, day-long event featuring forward-looking sessions about the future of CSE, research discussions, panels on career planning for our students and postdocs, a faculty meeting, and a poster session. We’re actively working to finalize all aspects of the event, so please understand some of the information listed here may change and continue to check back for updates as additional information is finalized and released.
All CCSE-affiliated faculty, research scientists, students (CSE PhD, Dept-CSE PhD & CSE SM) and postdocs are encouraged to participate. If you would like to attend but have not yet signed up, or if you need to update your response, please contact Zhao Xian.
The CCSE Retreat is supported by a grant from the Chan Wui and Yunyin Retreat Fund via the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing.

Pre-Event Action Items
Research Lightning Talks
All attendees are asked to submit one slide to be included in a collated deck which will be displayed during the event while attendees will take 1-2 minutes each to discuss their research.
Slides should include your name, CCSE affiliation, a brief research description and any additional information you see fit. Please upload your individual slide as a PDF to this shared folder by Sunday Oct. 13th.
Moderated Group Discussions
Seeking to build off the research lightning talks, the moderated group discussion will focus on specific areas. More details to follow but participants are encouraged to submit / upvote potential discussion topics here.
Poster Session
All students and postdocs are encouraged to present their work during the poster session. Some funding is available for poster printing, if needed, and a $250 poster prize will be awarded. Please contact Zhao Xian with questions or if you want to present so we include you in the count for display materials.
Poster boards 30″x40″ will be available to display posters.
Venue Location & Directions
The CCSE Retreat is taking place at 9OFS, located on the 9th floor of the One Federal Street building in Boston’s Financial District. Dinner will follow at the Palm Restaurant, located at 1 International Pl, Boston, less than 0.5 mile from 9OFS.
Due to One Federal Street building policies, we are required to provide a list of attendee names in advance of the event so if you have not already RSVP’d you must contact Zhao to be added to the list in order to attend. All attendees will need to show a photo ID (state-issued license/ID or MIT ID) before accessing the appropriate elevator to the 9th floor.
Parking
Limited parking is available and must be prearranged. Please email Zhao Xian to request a parking pass ASAP but no later than Oct. 9th.
Vehicles parked at One Federal St. can remain there during dinner.
via Public Transportation
To get to 9OFS from MIT’s campus, take the MBTA Red Line from Kendall Square to Downtown Crossing then walk less than 0.5 mile to 1 Federal St.
Suggested walking direction: When you arrive at Downtown Crossing Station, follow the signs for “Downtown Crossing – Chauncy St.” After passing through the fare gates, exit via the “Downtown Crossing – Chauncy St” exit. To enter the One Federal Building (9OFS is on the 9th floor), use the entrance on Federal St, near Milk St. The reception desk and elevator gates will be immediately visible; If you enter through the revolving door at the intersection of Federal St and Franklin St (by the traffic lights and Eastern Bank sign), walk straight through the lobby to the end.

There is bicycle storage available at 1 Federal St. for those who wish to bike.
