CCSE.connect: The Industry Alliance Program of the MIT Center for Computational Science & Engineering (CCSE)

The CCSE.connect program

Overview

The MIT Center for Computational Science and Engineering (CCSE) is an interdisciplinary research and education hub within the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing. Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) focuses on the development and application of advanced computational methods to solve complex problems in science and engineering. CCSE brings together researchers with expertise in applied mathematics, computer science, as well as diverse scientific and engineering disciplines to drive innovation in areas such as:

  • Scientific machine learning and AI for modeling and simulation
  • Data-driven approaches to engineering design and control
  • Scalable algorithms for high-performance computing
  • Large-scale optimization and inverse methods for science and engineering
  • Uncertainty quantification and reliability in complex systems
  • Multiphysics and multiscale computational modeling

The Center trains future leaders in CSE through interdisciplinary doctoral programs offered jointly with MIT departments, as well as a standalone CSE PhD program.

Industry alliance program

CCSE.connect helps members engage with MIT researchers and explore collaborations within the CCSE community. The program offers a series of events designed to foster meaningful interactions between academia and industry — including an annual retreat, modeled after the successful gatherings held in the fall of 2024 and 2025. Through these events, members will discover and discuss the latest advances and emerging research directions, access top talent, showcase their organization, and connect with other industry peers who share an interest in CSE. The program also aims to connect members with MIT faculty for potential joint research initiatives. Highlights of the 2025 retreat include an industry panel featuring member experiences and a plenary talk by Rémi Lam from Google DeepMind, titled Learning global weather forecasting from data: from proof of concept to operational deployment.

Additional benefits of membership

  • Job and internship openings: Reach MIT students directly through CCSE’s mailing lists
  • Hackathons and recruiting events: Engage with students in interactive, hands-on events
  • Seminars: Participate in CCSE seminars, including the upcoming Industry seminar
  • Professional education: Shape, or help co-develop MIT’s professional education offerings
